True Story: I was so excited, I couldn’t sleep Deborahsnow and mvhoops
I joined Match.com on December 31st, doing it to encourage a a friend to get into the dating scene (I was already trying a few dating services), but my friend ended up backing out.
I went out with several nice, well-educated men for at least three or four dates, but there was no chemistry. I occasionally changed my profile and got a rush of emails, one of which was from mvhoops. He responded to everything I wrote about, noting what we had in common. I gave him my personal email so he could send a photo. He didn't knock me off my feet, but at 6'6" he’s very tall, which I love, being that I'm 5'10" myself. I said yes to a date but almost canceled because he used a lot of capital letters in his emails, and I thought he had a LOUD personality. Luckily, he emailed me first, and I didn't have the heart to tell him no.
I met him and was immediately impressed. He had a glass of wine waiting for me and had a confidence and presence about him that was attractive. Within minutes of talking, we realized we knew a number of the same people and chatted for two hours.
He didn't mention another date when he walked me to my car, but I wasn't disappointed because I had such a great time. I immediately called my sister from the cell phone and told her I met a normal guy. Even though he hadn't mentioned a future date, I was so happy that I’d finally met someone that I connected with. It gave me huge hope. By the time I got home, he’d emailed me telling me what a great time he had and asked for another date that weekend.
After the next three dates, I couldn't sleep when I got home because I was so excited. We connected on so many levels and had so much fun together. We got engaged after two and a half months during a romantic getaway in New York and married in Carmel on June 14, 2003, followed by a two-week honeymoon in Italy. We're about to move into our dream home and are extremely happy.
