True Story: We emailed each other at the same time ld2430
It was my last hurrah with the blind date scene. I was sick and tired of it, but a friend had been encouraging me to try Match.com, so to humor her, I submitted a profile.
Within a day, I had lots of email from men wanting to chat. But out of all the male profiles, only one really caught my eye. I emailed him just as he was contacting me. I know it sounds cliche, but I'm sure our messages to each other passed through the system at the same time.
Anyway, we got to know each other via email over the next few days, then by telephone. My phone service went out the first time we spoke. I was afraid he would think I had hung up on him. I ran to a neighbor's house—his phone was out also. I ran down the block to the liquor store and begged the clerk to let me make a call. He graciously did so, and I got back to him, and we set up our first "date."
It was easy after that. On our second date I asked him to spend the weekend in San Francisco with me. After our third date, I asked him to tour Portugal on bikes with me during the upcoming summer. Though things moved quickly at first, we actually waited quite a while before making it official. He popped the question in March—after over a year together, and we were married in a beautiful mountain setting on October 7th!
